Our first battle! While this is not a major battle, it will be an important landmark for both this forum and the Orcs! Here's the battle information!
Factions: New Orsinium VS. Hammerfell Border Guard.
Battle Location: Just outside the Northern border of Orsinium official territory. The land is a large pass that leads into the mainland of New Orsinium. It would be the fastest and easiest way for Hammerfell to get their troops into New Orsinium once their plans to retake their land finally hits. On that note, the Orc's also see this problem and realize that if they take this high ground now and build defenses they could hold the Hammerfell reclamation off for quite a while, and quite to the losses of Hammerfell. The passage is called: Shargerd's Pass after an old Orc hero.
Landscape?: Along the rocky, hilly terrain of Hammerfell is a well sculpted passageway for caravan travels in times of peace. It declines downward from Hammerfell territory, giving the border guard the initial highground. It has nothing but moderate defenses shabbily put into place at the time. Along either side of the downward bound pathway are two large outcroppings straddling it, rising much higher. Excellent archery positions and slanted upward for superior melee tactics against those who would try to take it. Whichever side takes this major pass will be able to construct fort defenses. With this being the fastest and easiest way for either army to advance onto the other nations land. If it is taken, it will make war for whichever side that wins much smoother and it branches off toward another nearby nation as a trade route. ( Note the importance of trad routes! )
Faction stats?
New Orsinium: They are the attackers and have more numbers than the defending borderguard, but unfortunately do not have the strategic advantage. Unless you count the fact that their ORCS! XD Estimated war-party? 75 troops.
Leader: NPC
Characters:
Oonta Leksh Babzubda
Hammerfell: They have the high ground, and are well entrenched with archers. Their actual defenses are meager to non-existent, but they do have strong warriors and military training. The attack is too sudden for any real reinforcements to arrive. Estimated Border guard? 25 troops, some of those mere scouting parties.
Mercenary Pay?
Orsinium: 500 Drakes.
Hammerfell: 1000 Drakes.
