Bio: Near the end of the third era, S'kywra's parents, Mohad-Dar and S'danna discovered that S'danna was pregnant. This news was inconvenient to them, as they were travellers and adventurers, and had no room in their lives to be taking care of a child. They had been passing through Cyrodiil at the time, and they were soon forced to take root because the pregnancy was putting too much strain for S'danna to travel any further.
They found themselves taking root in the town of Cheydinhal, and S'kywra was born. There they stayed for 2 years, taking care of the newborn child. Eventually, though, they grew tired of the restriction of their new life, and left S'kywra on the streets, confident that someone would recognize her and take her in.
Thus began the upbringing that would make S'kywra into what she became, an upbringing by the streets, which would turn her into a criminal. It didn't happen straight-away, of course. Unfortunately, nobody took S'kywra in like her parents had hoped, but when she was younger, people took pity on her, gave her food, gave her blankets to keep warm. As she began to grow, though, people began to look on her as they would a street urchin or beggar. By this time, she was around eight, old enough to know what she needed to survive; and so when they stopped giving it to her, she learned how to take it anyway. Her thoughts were that if she was going to be treated as a street urchin, she might as well become one to survive.
It was tough at first. She got caught alot in those early days, and while some people merely shoved her out of the house with cries of "Filthy street rat!", others were not so kind. Despite bruises, bleeding, and sometimes even broken bones, she continued to perfect her craft, knowing it was the only way to survive. Soon, she stopped getting caught. She knew how to keep quiet, how to hide well, when the best times were to sneak into the houses. The natural speed and agility that Khajiits possess, not to mention their inherent ability to see in the dark, gave her a massive advantage as she became a thief.
At twelve years old, she had a brilliant stroke of enterprising brilliance. Why not make money for what she did? In fact, she didn't have to limit her services to theft. She had a great memory, combined with her abilities as a thief, she could also spy for people. So, discreetly, she began advertising her services through the help of the beggars, whom she promised part of her rewards in exchange. She never met with clients directly, instead relying on the beggars to act as her couriers. This naturally created an aura of mystery about who the professional thief could be, and concealed the fact that she was merely a child. Performing services as a professional thief and spy earned her much in the way of money and reputation. She was even called upon for tasks in Bravil and Leyawiin as word of her spread.
This continued for four years after that. By then, word of her had travelled even to the Imperial City, and she was given her first assignment there. After the long journey, she found the house of her target and staked it out for several days. During those days, she watched the resident of the house, a rather short-tempered Altmer man. By this time in her career, she'd become a masterful people watcher, being able to learn many things about them by watching from a distance, unnoticed and ignored. She came to know his schedule, when he came and went, when he slept, and soon felt ready to infiltrate his house and steal a staff from his bedroom, as per her contract.
The deal went sour when, as she was removing the staff from it's case, the Altmer came home early. Apparently, he had just been fired from his job, a situation S'kywra could never have predicted, and one that made him even more tempermental than usual. Catching the thief in his room enraged the man, and in his fury he attempted to kill S'kywra. At this point, though, she had been forced to defend herself on multiple occasions from a variety of people. She had always carried a dagger on her now, and in her defense she plunged it into his chest, splintering a rib and puncturing one of his lungs. In her panic to ensure his death, she swiped again, this time at his throat, and within a minute, he lay dead on the floor. In a panic, she took the staff and fled back to Cheydinhal, not resting until she got there. She had never killed anyone before, it was frightening.
When she got to Cheydinhal and finally rested, she never expected what would happen. In the middle of the night, a member of the Dark Brotherhood came to visit her, and offered her a place among their ranks. Though hesitant at first, she acknowledged the benefits of being part of such a prestigious group, and agreed to join. It was simple enough to get to the sanctuary there in her very own hometown. She found that her abilities as a thief and spy translated well into the area of assassination, and quickly became a master at it. Soon, she found herself the Silencer of the very Speaker that recruited her into the guild, Rydel Mandil.
However, only weeks later, he was killed while recruiting another member for the Dark Brotherhood, presumably by the member-to-be himself. S'kywra became his replacement as a speaker, and chose a promising young Shadowscale as her own Silencer. At this point, she had only been part of the Dark Brotherhood for three years, was a mere nineteen years old, and found herself stunned to be in such a place of high authority from her roots as a mere street urchin. She had even begun learning to read and write in between assassinations.
Three years later, disaster struck again as the Listener fell victim to Black-Heart Blight and died soon after. S'kywra, recognized for her remarkable skill and dedication during her short time as Speaker, was elected to replace the Listener. She has been successful as Listener for a year, and has a house in Cheydinhal and Chorrol.
